Stimulated Raman Scattering (SRS)

  • No seeding required – laser directly detects N2 molecules in Air

  • Two versions:

    1. Stimulated Raman Gain Spectroscopy (SRGS) – present method

    2. Inverse Raman Spectroscopy (IRS)

 

SRGS Summary:

What is SRGS?

  • Nonintrusive laser-based flow diagnostic
  • Close cousin of CARS
  • Based on Doppler shifts and Raman line- shape analysis

What does SRGS do?

  • Measures velocity, static pressure, & translational temperature -simultaneously from same sample volume
  • ~ 1-cm resolution
